Greetings,
In regards to the shocking amount of times I am asked to clarify simple matters of prestation, I feel I should answer here my thoughts upon the more common issues:
Boons: Any boons collected from San Francisco citizens must be registered with me by the LENDER if you wish me to enforce them. If you are calling in a boon and wish me to note it or assist you in any way please don't hesitate to ask. I am happy to forward any needed information to your harpy as long as you give me the appropriate contact information.
Transfer of Boons:There is a habit going on in which a person will sell a boon he or she posesses over another, and then later said recipient will come to my office demanding payment. If I and the person who owes is not informed of the transfer in advance, I WILL NOT ENFORCE THE BOON. Yes darlings, if they don't KNOW they owe you, they do not owe you. One cannot pay a debt if they don't know who the check is going too. If the seller meets an untimely end or is not contactable, then you are left to be bitter about your inability to make sure you got your money's worth.
Who owes who? I am not the "kindred yellow pages". If you want to know what boons you owe, and what boons are owed to you, and you are a resident of San Francisco, I am happy to research it a bit. Give some time. If you failed to come register a boon, then see the above statements in order to figure out the results of that oversight on your behalf. If you are outside of San Francisco, I will accept a request upon who owes whom; that said unless there is some extremely good reason you feel you deserve to know the business of the members of San Francisco's court, then you would be advised to not waste your time and mine.
Loaned Standing All loans of standing must be verified by your Harpy before I will accept them.
All loans must be listed in the following order:
Name
Adjective loaned
Specific reason for loan
Domain
Harpy Contact
Please note that I will not be permitting any status loans that are not specific in nature, as it is inappropriate to collect massive amounts of standing simply to be in attendance or "for the duration of the weekend". One does not need loans of standing to simply walk around a party. Please be specific: such examples are:
"I hereby loan my name of ( ) to ( ) so he may speak at the debate on my behalf. His opinions are my own."
I do not accept status loans given to anyone who is not a member of the Camarilla.
The more specific the lender is, the more protected they are. If you loan your name to "Mr Bob" to speak only on one topic, and Mr. Bob does something else untoward during a different segment, your standing will not be affected. Should you simply loan your name carte blanche, your standing will be affected by whatever they do or say, regardless of what you "thought" they were there for.
No amount of borrowed standing allows you to be rude or seditious against the Camarilla. I am sure that those lending you standing would be quite upset if you were to cause their names to be lessened due to an inability to be decorous and courteous at all times.
Keep in mind, you may only hold as many loaned names as you yourself have personal standing. So if you have two measures of standing, you can have up to two loaned names in addition to such.
A Matter of Responsiblity
Once you invoke the standing lent to you for whatever business you had, all loaned standing is automatically returned to the lenders. Should you use the standing for something other than what the lenders allow, your standing will adjusted to reflect your lack of respect for their good names.
Should you invoke the loaned standing, and then find yourself in another dispute of the same nature, it is considered spent and you must contact all those who lent you standing and ask again for it to be loaned.
There is a bit of a myth that Status means you are automatically correct in an argument. This is incorrect. Standing represents the work you have done for the Camarilla, and makes me consider more carefully the case brought before me.
Your reputation allows me to know you a bit more as a member of our Society, and thus assists in your cause. Your standing can also detract from your cause if I find you are acting beneath your station or taking actions that betray the standing you hold dear.
In all things, facts outweigh your standing; however said names act as a bit of a loftier cushion upon which to fall should you have to be taken down a peg...standing may also alleviate some of the reprecussions due to you for bad behavior but there are unforgivable social Faux Pas in the Camarilla, and each person is encouraged not to test the patience of the Harpy.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need further clarifications or have any questions.
